Join Joan and her partner Gary for a transformative sensory experience. These 90-120 minute sessions combine traditional components of a sound healing (gong, singing bowls, shamanic drum, didgeridoo, wooden flute, harmonium, hand pan) and modern song crafting (guitar, synthesizer, original beat compositions) with sacred songs, restorative yoga poses, lights and aromatherapy.

Join Joan and Gary for a feel-good 90-minute flow class focused on finding organic movement within and between traditional yoga poses, accompanied by a live DJ and lights. Most appropriate for students with a regular yoga practice. Expect a release of tension, plenty of good vibes and kombucha-fueled social time afterwards.
With guidance and the use of somatic tools, you will be led through exercises that allow you to access and release grief-trauma held within your nervous system that no longer serves you, and connect to your mother’s energy within you. Free blockages with dynamic pranayama breathwork, energize and connect with your bodies through a gentle yoga flow, clear stagnant energy with reiki, align with your highest vibration using sound immersion, connect in a sharing circle, let go with a yoga nidra session, nourish your heart space with guided meditation, and journal throughout your insight.
Join Joan Herzing and her husband Gary Flesher as they guide you through an evening of introspection, inspiration, community, and joy. Expect gentle yoga, breathwork, guided meditation, reiki, journaling, art expression, a tea meditation and sound healing. This workshop is appropriate for anyone that wants to ignite creativity in their personal or professional life. No prior yoga or meditation experience necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in and bring your mat.
Feel the love! Join Joan and her husband Gary for heart-centering, gentle movement, laughter, relaxation, wine and chocolate. No prior yoga experience necessary! We’ll meditate together, build trust, help one another deepen stretches, learn how to do beautiful savasana adjustments on each other, relax and rejuvenate with a yoga nidra session and connect with other couples over tea and chocolate.
Sometimes we need our circle, those close friends that recharge and encourage us. They share our fears and our joys, our pain and our celebrations with love and without judgement. There’s just nothing quite like a circle of feminine energy.
This is an empowering, emotional, good-vibe-filled gathering centered on one particular woman. It can be celebratory, anticipatory or it can be a group battle cry to lift a sister up after a life change or during a battle with sickness. I’ll incorporate yoga, meditation, reiki, breathwork, aromatherapy, journaling and other somatic tools to create a customized experience for your group; perfect for birthdays, bridal showers, baby showers, divorce gatherings, and so much more.
$30 per person, minimum of 10 people, approximately 2 hours.
Travel, supplies and space rental extra.
While having a yoga studio you can call home is important, having an at-home yoga practice is truly next step for a seamless and integrated approach to yoga as a way of peaceful living. A well-planned, personalized home yoga practice can be foundational in taking charge and prioritizing your wellness in everyday life, and will multiply the benefits of your yoga studio class experience. My aim is to guide you in that process. These two 90-minute in-your-home sessions are designed to help take you from a “studio-only” yoga student to a daily practitioner of asana, meditation and mindfulness.
Our first session is all about discovery: We will discuss your emotional, physical and spiritual goals, as well as blocks and limitations. We’ll talk about your space and how to transform the energy to support you in your practice. We’ll talk props and supplies, what you have and what you might need. We’ll practice various yoga poses, and conclude with a Reiki session to identify any energy blocks. Afterwards, I’ll get to work planning your home practice including an energizing flow, relaxing restorative sequence, breath work practice and mediation.
In our second session, we will tie it all together. We’ll go through your personalized yoga sequences and do a second Reiki session. You’ll also receive a written guide for reference, a personalized essential oil blend and custom crystal grid to help define your intention and space.
-$350 (plus travel if outside of Dane County), $250 for virtual instruction
A workplace yoga and mindfulness program can increase productivity and lower employee turnover. Root Song Mindfulness will put together a custom program (in person or virtually) including led yoga classes, short group meditations and instructed yoga and mindfulness tool kits with reference sheets and videos so your team can practice when their schedule allows, whether that’s an hour lunch break or a quick five minutes between meetings.
Using a combination of sound instruments, aromatherapy, yoga poses and reiki, Joan can create a customized individual or group session based on your goals and space.
Whether you're just starting a meditation practice and would like initial instruction, or want to add a guided group meditation for an in-person or virtual retreat, Joan will work with you to create the experience you're looking for.
As a Reiki Master Teacher, Joan can conduct individual or small group sessions and attunements.
Joan creates custom bath salt mixes with Dead Sea salt, black lava salt, epson salt, baking soda, bentonite clay and organic dried herbs. Available to purchase at Perennial Yoga - Fitchburg. Contact me for personal orders or wholesale.
Joan started her yogic journey nearly two decades ago. What began as an hour of refuge from the stresses of career and family turned into a path of self-discovery, spirituality and education, including a 200-hour yoga school certification through 21st Century Yoga on the Mat with Alex Pfeiffer and an advanced 500-hour training through the RajaHatha school of yoga with Amy Pearce-Hayden and Aubree Saia. She a Reiki Master Teacher, and has completed additional coursework in Sound Healing, Aromatherapy, Pranayama, Meditation, Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra.
By facilitating connections with body, self and others in a safe, loving container, Joan feels that modern yoga is a powerful healing agent in our world. In her classes, expect dynamic movement, breathwork, guided meditations, energy visualizations, and for flow classes, a physical challenge. Her goal is for students to leave feeling lighter and stronger physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Outside of yoga, you’ll find Joan writing music, playing various instruments and singing in two local bands; Avian Aura and The Blue Olives, experimenting in the kitchen and #vanlife adventuring with her husband Gary.
